Precast concrete slurry channels: the essential guide

Precast concrete slurry channels are an ideal solution if you’re looking to create infrastructure to enable safe and steady flow between storage tanks.

Here at JP Concrete, our customers often ask for our advice on installing precast slurry channels, so here is our essential guide on how to create the ideal slurry channel using high-quality precast concrete.

How do concrete slurry channels work?

Slurry channels are designed to transport waste safely between storage tanks in an efficient way. They are designed to minimise the risk of the channels becoming blocked or overflowing, without requiring large amounts of maintenance to keep them in working order.

Our precast concrete slurry channels are smoothly moulded to let the slurry flow freely at a steady rate in a particular direction, with the help of gravity as well as water in the channel.

If needed, we can also supply precast end units that have outlet holes to let the slurry out at the same steady rate without getting trapped. These can be easily installed to the slurry channel.

Are concrete slurry channels easy to fit?

We have designed our precast concrete slurry channels to be extremely easy to fit, with a tongue and groove joint that allows the units to fit together precisely and safely with minimal effort. This joint can be easily sealed with a watertight finish to ensure that your slurry channel doesn’t leak.

Do the concrete slurry channels come in different sizes?

We provide two different sizes to choose from. Our largest channel measures 2400mm in length, 1000mm in width and 1000mm in height. If you’re looking for a slightly smaller specification, we also supply a small channel that measures 2400mm in length, 810mm in width and 500mm in height.

At JP Concrete, each one of our concrete products has been made using the best-quality materials, so you can be sure that your slurry channel will stand the test of time.

Do you provide a delivery service?

Yes. We deliver our concrete products to anywhere on the UK mainland, including Scotland and Wales. If you’d rather not install the slurry channel yourself, we also offer a full professional installation service.

Working to a delivery and installation schedule that’s convenient to you, our installation team will arrive promptly on site and install the slurry channels efficiently and with minimal upheaval.

If you’re interested in finding out more about our full installation service, please get in touch with us and we will provide a quote for the delivery and installation of your precast concrete slurry channel.

Do you supply channel covers?

Yes. We have a couple of options for you to choose from when it comes to covers, depending on where your slurry channels are going to be located and how much pressure is going to be put on them.

You can choose between solid covers or diagonal, slatted covers which measure 1000mm x 2400mm x 7”. There are two types on offer for you to choose from: standard cattle slats and vehicle-loading slats, both offering an effective solution for your specific requirements.

If you are not sure which cover would work best for you, contact our team for advice.

How much do precast concrete slurry channels cost?

Because of the versatility of concrete slurry channels, prices can vary significantly depending on the individual nature of your project, such as the number of slurry channels required, the length of the channels and whether they lead to one storage tank or multiple tanks.

If you want to get a clearer idea on cost, we can certainly help you with this. With some basic information, our team will be able to give you a rough estimate on cost, so just give us a call and we will be able to provide a competitive quote.
