How to create the ideal on-site storage facility

Owners of commercial, agricultural and domestic buildings will be all too familiar with the importance of creating the right storage solutions on their property. Whether you’re looking to create storage for building materials or creating storage with division for a range of farming crops, getting the storage facility right is absolutely key.

But how do you create the perfect storage solution? Which building materials should you use for your storage facility? Let’s have a closer look at how to create the ideal storage unit.

Why should you use concrete products for storage units?

Whether you’re storing building materials or farming crops, we always recommend that you use concrete to create your storage facility and, more specifically, we suggest that you opt for bolt-down retaining walls. If you’re looking for a flexible solution then you’ll need a versatile product and our bolt-down retaining walls are just that.

Used for a variety of purposes such as salt barns, waste and recycling units, food defence solutions, storage bays, aggregate bays and earth retention facilities, concrete retaining walls are by far the most flexible and efficient choice.

How can you use retaining walls in your storage facility?

Designed to store a wide range of materials, including liquids if you choose to seal the wall units, bolt-down retaining walls save you time and money associated with construction because they are incredibly quick and easy to install.

They are suitable for large volumes so if you’re looking to heap your materials then they are designed to manage heavier loads. And since they have been manufactured in a factory-controlled environment and with covered reinforcement, these walls are suitable for severe exposure to the elements.

All of our precast concrete bolt-down retaining walls are designed to BS 8110-1:1997 and have been manufactured using a high-grade mix of concrete, so you can be absolutely sure that our precast bolt-down retaining walls are fit for purpose and will, most importantly, stand the test of time.

How large are the retaining walls?

Depending on your storage project, we offer a range of dimensions for you to choose from. All panels come in a standard width of 1000mm but are available in a variety of heights. If you don’t need your retaining walls to be very tall, we’d recommend that you opt for a height of 1000mm, 1500mm or 1750mm.

However, if you need your retaining walls to have a little extra height, we’d suggest you choose our retaining walls measuring either 2000mm, 2500mm, 3200mm or 3800mm in height.

We always strongly advise our customers to be absolutely sure about the dimensions they need before they make a purchase. If you’re unsure which dimensions would suit your storage facility best, just ask a member of our team for more advice.

How much do bolt-down retaining walls cost?

Since building projects vary so wildly in scale and size, we’d need to understand a bit more about what you’re looking to create before we can give you an idea on cost. For a bespoke and competitive quote, contact one of our team members at JP Concrete.
