Discover cost effective retaining wall solutions for constructing silage clamps with precast concrete

We understand that there are not enough hours in the day for farmers to keep up with the ever-changing agricultural world. So, to save you time and money, we have put together this handy guide on what we consider to be the best product to use when constructing your silage clamp.

Planning the design of your silage clamp can often be complex and time-consuming, so we have taken responsibility for understanding which products are most reliable, effective and affordable, and we have a sound solution for constructing a robust, energy-efficient design.

How do I know which product is best to use?

For the creation of silage clamp walls, we recommend using our Agri Retaining Wall units. With fast installation times of up to 100m per day, panels can be put in place in no time, saving you a considerable amount on installation costs.

Our modular retaining walls are available in three different profiles: L, T and U, offering you a wide range of retaining wall options and flexibility with the design of your silage clamp.

In the past, agricultural silage clamp retaining walls have often been constructed using pre-stressed panels spanning between steel columns. This type of structure, in many cases is no longer adequate as larger machines are being used to roll the silage, resulting of surcharge loads of up to 15T. On top of this, you may find that these structures are not necessarily compliant with current SSAFO regulations.

We understand that your requirements can vary considerably, therefore we offer a number of different products that can be used to create silage clamps quickly, easily and cost-effectively. Simply contact us and we can discuss which option is best for you.

What size retaining walls are available?

We have a variety of sizes available however, for usage with silage clamps, we recommend using a modular retaining wall with a height of up to 4m and length of 2m+. This works best to ensure the units are capable of withstanding the loads placed on them.

What are the benefits of using modular retaining walls?

There are a number of benefits which come with using a modular retaining wall in the construction of a silage clamp:

  • Excellent concrete strength and finish using self-compacting C60/C75 concrete.
  • Top of units are rounded to avoid catching on silage sheeting.
  • Chamfered edges ensure excellent alignment between units and easy mastic application
  • 15kN/m2 surcharge capacity

How quickly will items be delivered and installed?

Delivery times vary depending on the size and quantity of items required, these can often be in stock enabling fast turnaround on orders. We aim to deliver to you as soon as we are able to, so you can be sure your products will be with you in the quickest time possible.

Modular retaining walls do not require fixing when in position, allowing installation to be carried out quickly, saving you valuable time and money on installation costs. The units are positioned using our lorry mounted crane and benefit from a unique joining system which allows you to join and seal the units as they are installed.
