Explore Our Concrete Ballast & Kentledge Blocks Range
Every block in the range is built for a different type of project – from lightweight marquee anchors to heavy-duty counterweights for cranes and turbines. Whether you need manoeuvrability, maximum stability, or the flexibility to link units together, there’s a block designed to make your job easier.
All blocks are available to hire or buy, with UK-wide delivery and an optional offload and placement service.
Here’s an overview of the options available:
Best for: Small events or short-term site ballast
Compact and easy to handle, these 500kg blocks are perfect for securing marquees, gazebos and other light temporary structures. The fork recess allows quick positioning with a pallet truck or forklift, making them ideal for short-term hire.
Dimensions: 805 × 445 × 655mm
- Weight: 500kg
Handling: Fork recess + lifting loop
Key feature: Recessed base for pallet truck handling
Common applications: Marquees, gazebos, light temporary structures
Best for: Sites needing linkable or modular ballast
A versatile option with cast-in pole holes that let you link multiple blocks together using scaffold tubes. This makes them particularly useful for scaffolding ballast or sites with access restrictions where heavier blocks aren’t practical.
- Dimensions: 1200 × 545 × 600mm
Weight: 850kg
Handling: Fork recess + Deha lifting clutch
Key feature: Linkable blocks with pole holes
Common applications: Scaffolding ballast, site hoarding, event cabins
Best for: Marquees in exposed or high-wind sites
Heavier than the 500kg option, these 1 tonne marquee weights offer greater stability for larger temporary structures or higher wind conditions. With a fork recess for easy handling, they’re a reliable choice for event organisers.
Dimensions: 805 × 900 × 655mm
Weight: 1000kg
Handling: Fork recess + lifting loops
Key feature: High stability for larger structures
Common applications: Large marquees, cabins, event infrastructure
Best for: Construction and site security projects
A square-profile block with no base recess, offering maximum ground contact for stability. Two-threaded sockets allow posts to be fixed directly, making these blocks perfect for hoarding and facade retention.
- Dimensions: 750 × 750 × 750mm
- Weight: 1,000kg
- Handling: Single Deha lifting clutch
- Key feature: Threaded sockets for post fixing
- Common applications: Hoarding, facade retention, scaffolding ballast
Best for: Projects needing fewer, heavier blocks
At 2.4 tonne per unit, these blocks deliver serious ballast power while still being easy to handle thanks to the fork recess. With four lifting points, they’re a safe, efficient choice for large marquees or exposed sites.
- Dimensions: 1,000 × 1,000 × 1,000mm
- Weight: 2,400kg
- Handling: Fork recess + 4 lifting points
- Key feature: Heavy ballast with safe handling
- Common applications: Large marquees, facade retention, temporary works
Best for: The heaviest-duty ballast requirements
The largest block in the range, with a 2m × 2m footprint and nearly 6 tonnes of mass. Its wide base spreads load on softer ground, making it the ultimate ballast solution for cranes, wind turbines and facade retention systems.
- Dimensions: 2,000 × 2,000 × 600mm
- Weight: 5,760kg
- Handling: 4 × Deha lifting clutches (one per corner)
- Key feature: Large footprint for maximum load spread
- Common applications: Cranes, turbines, coastal or exposed sites
Applications for concrete ballast blocks
Our blocks are designed for versatility. Typical applications include:

Case Study Spotlight - Claremont Hotel
In November 2019, a devastating fire swept through the Claremont Hotel on Eastbourne seafront. The Grade II listed landmark, built in the 1850s, experienced a partial collapse, rendering the structure unstable and in urgent need of support.
To enable scaffolding to be safely erected around the building’s remains, a reliable ballast solution was required to withstand the strong coastal winds sweeping along the promenade. Maidstone Scaffolding turned to us to provide a quick, practical precast option that would maintain the structure’s stability and keep the project on track.
Why choose our concrete ballast blocks?
Full range of sizes – 500kg to 5,760kg, covering every project need.
Hire or buy – flexible supply for short- and long-term projects.
Fast, safe installation – cast-in lifting points or fork recesses make handling straightforward.
Customisable – threaded sockets, Halfen channels or cast-in holes on request.
