Concrete Retaining Wall Website

JP concrete has recently launched a new dedicated site for its range of precast concrete retaining walls. The purpose of this site is to enable JP’s clients to have an easy to negotiate website that is specific to the range of retaining wall units.

There are currently four designs available in the retaining wall range;

Bolt-down retaining wall, enables clients to fix the units to an existing concrete foundation slab, which helps to reduce the installation time and keep installation costs to a minimum. The bolt-down concrete units are also beneficial if there is limited space available, as it would only require a foundation slab of approximately 1500mm (depending on site conditions and loads involved) to fix the units onto.

The cast-in concrete retaining wall units are designed to be cast-in to an insitu concrete floor, or foundation slab. The units are supplied with reinforcement bars protruding from the end of the base of the unit, once the units are placed into position and levelled, a concrete slab is poured infront of the unit to tie the retaining wall unit into the slab. The main advantage of the cast-in version is that it removes the protruding foot of the L-shape unit, which enables the client to be able to drive machinery close to the upright of the retaining wall units and avoids causing damage to the foot.

A new addition to the concrete retaining wall range is the freestanding unit. The freestanding wall is available in three standard heights; 2.4m, 3m and 3.6m; all units are 1.2m wide. The freestanding concrete wall units have be designed to enable them to be easily manoeuvred by using the precast holes in the base of the unit and a forklift or fork attachment. Alternatively there are precast holes in the top of the units for shackles and chains to be attached. The freestanding units also feature a curved base profile on the faces of the units, this enables the retained materials to run off the face of the units making them a clean and practical option, with the added flexibility of being able to create the bay space required to suit our specific daily needs.

Also in the concrete retaining wall range is the crib wall units, these modular units are quick to install and are mainly used for earth retention. The units are 4m long 1.3m wide and 300mm high. The crib wall units interlock and do not require any additional fixing, once the units are installed, the cavity in the units is then filled with a granular material to give additional weight to the units. Once finished and backfilled, the exposed face of the crib wall can then have shrubs planted into it which helps the concrete crib wall to blend into is surroundings and make for a more aesthetically pleasing concrete retaining wall structure.
