Concrete Retaining Wall Unloading and Installation

Transportation and Unloading
The access road to the point of unloading must be suitable for road vehicles. Roads with sharp corners or severe changes in level must be avoided. The off-loading area should be on level ground, and an appropriate space for turning units and the vehicles should be available.

The units are transported horizontally and should be offloaded in this position. The units should be lifted so as to equalise the lifting points to coincide with the centre of gravity of the unit. Lifting into the vertical position should be undertaken prior to installation. If you require a lorry with a lifting arm then please ensure you let us know.

Installation
Anchor Information

To ensure safety against sliding and overturning it is recommended that the retaining walls are anchored to a secure concrete slab foundation. A qualified engineer should assess foundation requirements.

Anchoring should be completed using bolts (or steel dowels), resin and grout. We can supply ground fixing kits or we can give you advice on what you require. Care needs to be taken to ensure that the anchor holes are deep enough to ensure a stable foundation. Please consult us, or a qualified engineer.

In-situ Installation
Our retaining walls units are also available with reinforcing bars protuding from the toe, thus allowing you to imbed the unit into a concrete floor to make a permanent structure. The benefit of this is that the foot of the unit will be completely submerged, giving a flush finish with the floor level. See picture below for more details.

For further information and instructions on in-situ installation of concrete retaining walls, please speak to one of our staff.
