Prestressed Concrete Panels Installation and Technical Information Unloading and Storage1) Park lorry on level firm ground, allowing plenty of space to approach squarely with a forklift/ tractor. 2) Ensure forklift/tractor is capable of lifting load safely and within the machine’s safe working load. 3) Unload panels one at a time. 4) Lift the concrete panels with the forks flat underneath, and set as wide as possible to help prevent chipping the edges. 5) Set stacking timbers out on hard, level ground placing them approximately 20% of the length of the panel in from each end. Ensure that following layers of stacking timbers are placed in line with the others. Do not stack more than 7 high. Installing Horizontal Panels1) Horizontal concrete panels can be installed using a telehandler, forklift or similar machine. J.P Concrete can supply a set of D shackles for safe handling and quick installation. 2) When off loading with a forklift, make sure the forks are at their widest position. Take care not to damage the edge of the panels when positioning the forks. 3) When stacking concrete panels make sure that no more than 7 panels are placed on top of each other. Stacking timbers must be stacked vertically at 20% from each end, so as to spread load evenly and prevent damage. Only stack panels on level firm ground. 4) When lifting the concrete panels from the stack, fix D shackles through the holes near top of panel and lift carefully (with chains of appropriate SWL) to the upright position. Travel carefully with panel to the fixing position and ensure panel is securely fixed before releasing. 5) Panels are fixed to the uprights using the plates and bolts supplied. Once the panel has been fixed the D shackles may be released. Do not over tighten the bolts as this can damage the panel.
